At the time the Marshalltown Roundhouse was constructed in 1964, it was a premier high school sports facility renowned around the state of Iowa.
The unique architecture housed a state-of-the-art circular track encompassing the large basketball court, which became the home floor to high school gym students as well as determined athletes including many state champions!
Not only used for athletics, the Roundhouse has been the location for Marshalltown High School graduation since 1965. It is frequently used for high school assemblies, band and choral concerts, pep rallies, and dances. And it has also been a venue over the years for many community events including reading programs, service projects, caucuses, and sendoffs for our military service men and women.
This iconic landmark still stands proudly; however, the Marshalltown Roundhouse is now in serious need of renovation! No major improvements have been made since 1964!
